Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 box, about 15.25-16.25 ounces (432-461 g) Yellow cake mix
  • 1 20-ounce can (567 g) Apple pie filling
  • 3 eggs Large eggs

Method

Step-by-Step
  1. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
  2. Add the apple pie filling and eggs to a mixing bowl. Stir until the eggs are reasonably incorporated into the filling.
  3. Add the dry yellow cake mix and stir just until no large dry pockets remain. The batter will be thick and lumpy, which is normal.
  4. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  5. Bake for about 35–45 minutes, checking the center for doneness. A toothpick inserted into the cake portion should come out with moist crumbs rather than wet batter.
  6. Cool the cake for at least 10–15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Do not overmix after adding the cake mix, because excessive mixing can make the cake dense. If the apple pieces are large, roughly chop them in the can or bowl for cleaner slices. Powdered sugar, cinnamon, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream are optional serving additions.
